New Books on Gender and Political Recruitment

Congratulations to FIIN members Elin Bjarnegård and Meryl Kenny, whose books have been published with Palgrave Macmillan’s Gender and Politics series in 2013. Both monographs address the gendered dynamics of the ‘secret garden’ of candidate selection, contributing to a wider research agenda looking at the relationship between gender, institutions, and political recruitment.

The University of Manchester invites applications for a three-year PhD studentship as part of a European Research Council grant on 'Understanding Institutional Change: A Gender Perspective' led by Georgina Waylen.

New Marie Curie fellow

Congratulations to FIIN member and early career scholar,  Rosalind Cavaghan, who has been awarded a prestigious Marie Curie Fellowship by the European Commission.

The highly competitive  Intra European Fellowship (IEF) will enable Rosalind to undertake exciting new post-doctoral research on EU policy responses to the financial crisis. She will hold the fellowship at Raboud University Nijmegen, in the Netherlands, where she will work with leading feminist political scientist Professor Mieke Verloo.
